Salient points put forth by NEP 2020, is to inculcate active learning among learners. Board the activities should involve collaborative learning, problem based learning and cooperative learning. Boardgames holds the capacity to fulfill all these. Board games deals with experiential learning, where the players immerse in the whole process through which they can analyse , understand and then come up with ideas/solutions to the problem in hand. They develop the competence to identify where they could have gone wrong and where they could have done something different to achieve a different result.
Use of narratives to introduce a game and then leading the learners through the whole process of rules and the game itself is an enriching experience.
The esteemed speaker also emphasized on the various types of board games and how they can be used to induce both passive and active learning. Dr. Bhattacharya shared the knowledge of various boardgames which can be categorised as game of chance, game of skill and mind sport. The session highlighted how the mind is never at rest and is always  in need of some food to process the thoughts.

A child at an early age starts thinking and reacting to the actions and situations around him. It is very important to make a child empathize with the situation around them. They need to assess their surroundings and open up to the thoughts which encourage them to think or question, 'why', 'who' and 'how'. That's where they make a connect to their surroundings which triggers the 4 C's of critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication.
The session emphasised that when education is integrated with design thinking, the learnings become learner - oriented and all learners succeed in the project. They visualize the surroundings with their prospective, identify the need for the society and come up with their innovations to fill in the gaps. Thinking and empathizing helps a child realize "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.'

The learners of tomorrow learn from our actions, lead them by example and not by lecture. Enlighten them with the importance of waste management in our everyday life. Encourage the curiosity within a child to ask ‘why’ and to understand the environment around them through music and other engaging fun activities.

Education is not limited to a classroom or to a specific group of children. A learner is hidden somewhere in each one of us, we only need to assess the learning needs. Every child is blessed with different learning ability and a different skill set. As an educator, it becomes our responsibility to give the learners a suitable and conducive environment to satisfy their learning needs. We need to focus on developing the skills of every child to foster their strengths. Learning doesn’t confide to academics, it spreads its wings to developing physical and social skills in a child. It has become imperative to have differentiated instructions for children with different skill set and capabilities.
